Focus on the Family head, Jim Daly, seems to be a really nice guy, but the interests of the Church and society are not advanced by naivity. Note the story below with Mr. Daly’s comments, followed by our analysis.

ChristianGovernance eletter – November 15, 2012
Many Christians in positions of influence today, and many other Christians, seem preoccupied with strategies to build networks and linkages with the adherents of other religions.
This is different from the building of ordinary relationships. The latter is a good thing and the normative way to build opportunities for evangelism as well as to build civilization. The latter is problematic, and quite different from the example left for us by Paul in Acts 19. If this Member of Parliament had made this comment outside of the protection of the House of Commons, she could probably have been sued for libel or slander. Note the bolded text below. The capacity for dishonest extremist rhetoric among pro-aborts is remarkable. As a Manitoba MP, she probably has nightmares about sharing the representation of the province with serious pro-lifers like Rod Bruinooge, Candice Bergen and Lawrence Toet, but I’m sure they are praying for her.

There was huge media coverage last week for the news that British Columbia members of Canada’s national police force, the RCMP, aligned themselves with a project birthed in the heart and mind of a vicious anti-constitutional (discrimination on the basis of religion) mouthpiece of hatred and bigotry against Christians. New York is experiencing
another example of homosexual tyranny. The homosexual movement has embraced the ideology of modern socialist totalitarianism. Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that modern homosexualism is a totalist ideology, accepting no dissent and taking no prisoners.
Two lesbians have filed a human rights complaint because a wedding venue has refused to serve them. This is a private sector operation. The suffocating jackboot of the homosexual industry is pressed against the neck and windpipe of fundamental liberty. It’s at war with Christianity, the only source of true freedom.
The homosexualists are using human rights law against Christianity. This case illustrates the incompatibility between human rights law and God’s law. The Bible doesn’t teach human rights theory. Far too many Christians today continue to straddle the fence between these two concepts of law. By doing so, they are failing to realize the nature of the conflict. Thus, they are contributing to confusion among Christians as to the nature and seriousness of the current battle. This helps to seal Christianity’s fate until reformation through repentance and Biblical worldview become the focus of the Christians who remain.

As wave after wave of disappointment washed over me in the aftermath of Tuesday’s US vote, I was compelled to consider: how did Barack Obama recover from his record and return to Washington as the re-elected President of the United States? Article after article has been churned out by conservative writers better known and better connected than me; from the deeply analytical statistics about white males, unmarried women, grateful storm survivors, etc. to the introspective writhings and writings of folks who clearly understand that the church has failed to educate, to inspire and to hold accountable the American voter. The American election season along with my readings in Acts have really helped to focus my thinking on the glorious rule and majestic reign of Jesus Christ over His creation and His Church.
We need to drink – and drown if necessary - in the amazing vision of God’s sovereign rule in the Scriptures instead of wallowing in fear and despondency by constantly gazing at the corruption and wickedness around us. Read more... (895 words, estimated 3:35 mins reading time)
