Regarding these teaching notes, Check against Delivery, to use a media term. What’s contained here is largely what was presented at the retreat. They are notes, however, and the material was presented in a discussion format, so they are not a precise transcription of exactly what was said. Can we stop Christian kids from leaving the Church?

Published on October 12, 2012 By SiteEditor

I said a few weeks ago that we would have some comment on a new study released on why Canadian youth are leaving the Church. The study, “Hemorrhaging Faith,” was sponsored by several different groups, including the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. This trend seems to be the subject of a growing number of discussions among church leaders in the past few years. This study is apparently the first one providing a useful amount of Canadian data and analysis. Christian leaders involved in the project have, therefore, said that it’s a very important piece of work. The results, though, weren’t unsurprising so I’m not sure how important the project really is. In an article on the report published by EFC’s magazine, Faith Today, John Wilkinson, chair of the EFC’s Youth ad Young Adult Ministry Roundtable, said “For those of us who are close to what is going on in youth ministry across Canada, the research findings are not so much surprising as they are confirming.” There may be one important exception to this, which is what we want to consider here. At this time, we have not yet read the original report. We have been following some of the comments made by others.

ChristianGovernance plans: publishing book, upcoming retreats and WAY Camp 2013

Published on August 20, 2012 By SiteEditor
ChristianGovernance eletter – August 20, 2012
We have been busy over the last couple of months at ChristianGovernance. As you know, we are about to release our first book, Leaving God Behind, by Michael Wagner. Your window is quickly closing for taking advantage of our pre-publication offer of $14 – $6 off the regular price. Contact us at [email protected] or 613-496-0091 to order your discounted copy/ies.
Retreats
We have been finalizing details for a guys retreat and a young ladies retreat for those aged 14-19. The ladies retreat is scheduled for Oct. 19-21, the guys retreat for Oct. 26-28. These retreats are part of our Worldview and Apologetics Youth – WAY – ministry, which is anchored by our annual Eastern Ontario WAY Camp.

The ladies will be looking at over 20 danger signs of marrying the wrong guy. This will be based on teaching by a nouthetic counsellor. Nouthetic counselling is an explicitly Biblical model of counselling. Their retreat will be held in upstate New York. The men will be looking at three dangers to young men from J.C. Ryle’s short book, Thoughts for Young Men. One of his chapters deals with five dangers to young men – pride, the love of pleasure, thoughtlessness, contempt of Christianity and the fear of man’s opinion. We will be looking at three of them. Their retreat will be held in Eastern Ontario, west of Ottawa. Stay tuned for more details.

43% of churched young adults drop out of church

ChristianGovernance eletter – June 2, 2012

Only 43% of churched young adults drop out of church. What a relief! Or is it?

The antidote is Biblical worldview. Listen to this:

Homosexual parenting fuels tyranny

ChristianGovernance eletter – May 1, 2012
Homosexual parenting fuels tyranny

“Court orders former B.C. lesbian couple to divide left-over sperm”

Perhaps the greatest fraud in the multi-decade campaign to normalize homosexual parenting and domestic relationships is the notion that this libertine ethic is consistent with the view that the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation. This claim is false and dishonest in at least two ways, and despite the transparent dishonesty of these claims, social conservatives have, for some reason, been very muted in challenging activists on these points.

ChristianGovernance – Exciting upcoming events

ChristianGovernance upcoming events

ChristianGovernance has two very important upcoming events in the new year. We have already sent out a press release about our “Titanic 2011-Women and Children First” banquet. Ticket will go on sale soon once we have secured our venue. We are very excited to be bringing Kevin Swanson to Ottawa as our feature speaker on Biblical manhood and Biblical womanhood, and we are thrilled to be able to welcome concert pianist Calvin Jones to our event as well.
