Rabbi gives blessing to spy honey traps
An Israeli rabbi has given his blessing for female Mossad spies to have sex with the enemy in so-called “honey trap” stings. Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that Rabbi Ari Schvat’s ruling appeared in a study, “Illicit sex for the sake of national security,” published by the Tzomet Institute, which studies the interface between religion and modernity. He said it was not a breach of Jewish law for a woman to seduce terrorists and enemies in order to gain vital intelligence to save lives. Rabbi Schvat said such honey trap missions have roots in the Bible. Queen Esther slept with Persian King Ahasuerus around 500 B.C. to save her people and Yael, wife of Hever, slept with the enemy chief of staff Sisra to tire him and cut off his head.
