I am still benefiting a great deal from my readings through the first few chapters of Acts. I hope to provide more reflections in the days ahead. One passage I have come to understand in a new and better way is Acts 4:13: “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”  Read more... Ad-libbing foreign policy is a mistake Canada cannot afford to make. Mr. Obama may base his actions today on opinion polls or a cutting quip he thinks may keep him in power but Canada’s policies must be based on long-range objectives and eternal truths. While I greatly appreciate Canada’s support for Israel and the closing of the Canadian Embassy in Iran, the events of this week in “ad-Libya” show how fragile a peace can be when a society is not based on Christian values. It underscores the difference between temporary allies and committed friends.  Read more... (673 words, estimated 2:42 mins reading time)

From ChristianGovernance eletter, Sept. 8, 2012:
The human conscience is real, a gift from God to warn us away from sin and to draw us to God in Christ for repentance. When you don’t turn to Christ for forgiveness, the conscience becomes one’s tormentor unless you harden and sear it. Sadly, this woman committed suicide over (same-sex) sexual guilt instead of finding forgiveness in Christ. Unfortunately, homosexualists with seared consciences will make matters worse for more people by blaming criticism of homosexuality, rather than real sin and guilt, for this woman’s suffering.  Read more... B.C. studio giving grade schoolers a taste of pole dancing. In the article, the business owner says everything is on the up-and-up: “‘Ms. Craig, who first took a pole dance class four years ago and never worked on the pole as an adult entertainer, said she will keep the focus strictly on athletics. ‘I treat it just like gymnastic classes…. I don’t teach any of the adult moves,’ she said.” If that’s the case, then why does the company’s logo include a silhouette drawing of a barely clothed female in a bikini, holding on to a pole, upside down with her legs spread wide? No conflicting message here! Oh, and I don’t think any self-respecting parents would want their child to Google the company’s website either…

“Canada’s lack of public funding for IVF discriminatory: expert”
We need more “experts” like this! Such is the state of modern immorality and idolatry – the refusal of a civil magistrate to rob one citizen of tax dollars to fund another citizen’s desires is considered unethically discriminatory. These comments are helpful, though, because they demonstrate to most ordinary people how irrational and morally repugnant non-Christian worldview is. Unfortunately, though, when uneducated professing Christians jump on these campaigns, they of course undermine this potential benefit of putting heathen ideas on parade.
