Alabama Gov. Bob Riley started a much-needed trend today when he called for a Day of Prayer on Sunday, in response to the BP oil disaster. “Throughout our history, Alabamians have humbly turned to God to ask for His blessings and to hold us steady during times of struggle,” Riley said. “This is certainly one of those times.” The governors of Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi immediately followed suit.
