Freedom of Religion is a Fundamental Right: David Krayden

You would think that the bishops were condoning sexual abuse – or, God forbid, in this topsy-turvy moral age, maybe even cigarette smoking – so outraged are many amongst the Canadian left. In a letter last week from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, one line has stimulated the war against religion like no other: “Furthermore, we support (believers’) right to conscientious objection as a fundamental expression of the freedom of conscience and religion.”

The End of the Abortion Debate in Canada?: David Krayden

Even if perhaps 20,000 people came to Parliament Hill yesterday to proclaim a pro-life Canada, to a great many observers, the apparent rejection and imminent defeat of Motion 312 in the House of Commons would seem to herald the end of the abortion debate in Canada. The motion, a modest proposal at best, is Kitchener Centre MP Stephen Woodworth’s earnest initiative to assess if indeed the fetus is a human being or simply protoplasm and a mere appendage to a woman’s body. Yes, obviously this question is all about whether abortion entails the taking of a human life and whether it should enjoy the unrestricted access that it currently does in Canada.

Doing damage to the pro-life cause
By David Krayden

Make no mistake, if I were living in Alberta I would be voting Wildrose this election and supporting an old friend, Danielle Smith, for premier. Make no mistake again, Smith has done tremendous damage to the pro-life movement through her recent comments that essentially aim to elevate abortion to the sanctified level of sacrosanct human right. This is vitally ironic, as Smith leads a socially conservative party base in the most socially conservative province in Canada.

ABORTION AND HOW NOT TO INFLUENCE GOVERNMENT
By Garnett Genuis, for NuzCanada

I used to work for Industry Minister Tony Clement. My colleagues and I would meet with industry associations and lobbyists from time to time who wanted to influence the decisions our Minister made. Through these meetings, I got to see first hand what effective tactics are used by these groups to influence government.

Lobbying vs. equality before the law

Published on September 15, 2010 By SiteEditor

If Canadians don’t understand how the following account violates the principle of equality before the law, this is evidence of how difficult it is to see offences when you live in the midst of them. It is also a challenge to Christians to become immersed in the Bible and Biblical worldview teaching in order to be able to understand and criticize our culture effectively and responsibly.

Ben-Ami appeals to Canadians over immigration failures

Published on August 20, 2010 By SiteEditor

This letter by CCPS President Joseph Ben-Ami expresses serious concerns about Canada’s immigration situation. One might be tempted to call it an immigration system, but as Mr. Ben-Ami notes, it’s not really a system, it’s a collection of policies that lack unity and coherence. It is also a fundraising letter. Consider how you might support CCPS if you share their concerns over immigration in Canada.

Sun Sea “refugees” expose government foot-dragging on reform

OTTAWA – The arrival of a shipload of Tamil migrants off Canada’s west coast intending to claim refugee status exposes how little progress the Conservative government has made in fixing this country’s badly broken refugee system since coming to office in 2006.
