What do we do with the United Church?
I have not been paying much attention to the death throws of the United “Church” of Canada. They have been holding their 41st General Council meetings in Ottawa this past week. They have been generating controversy over some of their position statements, especially one against Israel.

The Almighty, Liberals and Liberty
By Dennis Prager
Received via email…
I happened to stop in at our local newspaper the other day to pay a subscription bill and I asked the acting editor why she hadn’t printed my last letter to the editor in the paper about the differences between liberals and conservatives. She suggested it was a ‘little over the top’ because I said that liberal women had to much testosterone and the men were girlie/men. She said that some of the letter was offensive.
Our commentary today is a response to a couple of items from the recent Cardus e-letter. We, especially as a young organization, would prefer to avoid direct disagreement with other Christians, but these articles provided a useful context for driving home some of the key views advocated by ChristianGovernance, Biblical positions that we may be unique in bringing forward to the public square.
“Human Rights” is a law code. As such, it’s mutually exclusive of God’s Law, the Decalogue. There may be touching points. God’s Law bans murder (Commandment #6). So does “Human Rights.” Wait a second, no it doesn’t. Well not for everyone. Not for unborn babies. And in some countries, not for those who want to commit suicide. The Separatist MP who is pushing euthanasia in Canada says all Canadians should have the right to die with dignity.

Commencements tilting decidedly left
