ChristianGovernance Report – November 24, 2010
What a tragedy that Canada’s rabid left mainstream media are helping to denigrate death and minimize murder by pandering to the homosexualist/”transgender” agenda. Thankfully, it seems, only a handful of papers were guilty this year. These publications reported on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, treating the activist statements as fair comment without rebuttal. Particularly offensive were the claims that that the event honours “transgendered” people killed out of fear and hate. The headline of the Nanaimo Daily News story was “Vigil honours transgendered people killed out of fear and hate.” An organizer of that event, Tasha Gill, was quoted saying, “The purpose is to remember all of those people killed because of trans phobia and hate.” The lengthy puff piece in The Ottawa Citizen also identified the purpose of the remembrance day as ” to remember those who have been killed due to transgender hatred or prejudice,” without any counterpoint to such a provocative assertion.
You can be sure that a dead body makes a great news story. So where are the dead bodies? The Daily News story produced no dead bodies to back up Ms. Gill’s claim of “transgendered” people murdered out of fear and hate. Nor did the article in the Ottawa Citizen. Where are these dead people? They don’t exist. Nobody has been killed for being for getting a sex change or wearing inappropriate clothing. Nobody in Canada anyway. If they have, produce the bodies… They can’t because there are none. It’s a fraud; it’s a con-game; it’s a scam to solicit emotional conversion and political gain.
Murder is a very serious matter. Are you not fed up with the way the homosexualist/”transgender” agenda politicizes and minimizes death and murder with these con-games and fake accusations? They also minimize death by lumping murder and assault in with insults and criticism by labelling all of these actions as “hate.” They try to use claims of murder to intimidate and manipulate people’s sympathy and to gain political advantage, knowing that people treat murder as a serious matter. Yet by lying and politicizing the issue, they minimize murder and treat it as a toy to be played with. Then they wonder why there has been – or at least appears to have been – a recent spike in attacks against homosexuals in North America. Homosexualist activists have brought this hostility on themselves by their contribution to the coarsening of the culture and their gratuitous treatment of murder and violence. Like the typical spoiled brat, however, they refuse to take responsibility for their actions. They continue to blame the culture, and systemic discrimination, and sexually responsible people, and simple criticism for the very limited cases of violence that they do experience.
Pretty soon, the only people who will take these activists seriously will be cowardly politicians. The rest of us, who oppose vigilante violence against all people, including homosexuals and “transgender” people, are getting tired of the whining, the belligerence, the hate, the abuse and manipulation and the blame-shifting of these activists.
One more thing… As troubling as the behaviour of these activists is, what is much, much more disturbing is when government officials – especially those who carry guns and billy clubs – allow themselves to be co-opted for such aggressive political agendas that are based on mythology. The Ottawa Citizen story reported that the “transgender” event in the nation’s capital had won the support of the Ottawa police force with a moment of silence and the raising of a flag. According to the report, the Ottawa police force was the first organization in Canada to express its support for the Transgender Day of Remembrance. For their event, they were joined by representatives of the Gatineau police and the Ottawa Paramedics Service. It is very ominous to think that our police forces are becoming agenda-driven tools of discrimination on behalf of militant special interests. When police forces are willing to be co-opted in this fashion, how can they be trusted to be unbiased, fact-driven professionals?

Perhaps the writer of this article should do some research. Ignorance of fact is no excuse.
We clicked on two names in the list randomly:
Harvey Aberles
Location: New York City, New York
Cause of Death: Shot by NYPD
Date of Death: 1975
Source: Drag Magazine, Volume 6, Number 24
Notes: Aberles was a decorated hero of the Vietnam War.
and
Michelle Maree
(aka Michelle Hays, Joe Michael Hays)
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Cause of Death: Shot in the chest
Date of Death: November 5, 1990
Source: Dallas Denny of GEA and Cross-Talk #25, June 1991
Notes: Michelle won Miss Gay Memphis in 1974
All these records give is elementary details of name, cause of death, etc. Even if these are “transgendered” people who was killed, there’s no documentation to back up any claims that they were killed BECAUSE OF being “transgendered,” which was the point made in the article. So these facts, assuming they are accurate, do nothing to rebut the point made in the article.
SiteEditor:
What would it imply, though, if they were being killed for being transgendered? I imagine that they must have at least a few notable cases where there was substantial evidence of the ‘hate’ and motivation behind these crimes.
I mean, we can all agree that murder is wrong. And it’s certainly not made any less wrong if any particular group is being targeted — can we not just accept this as tragedy?
It seems to me that even if the list michele offered is merely coincidence of transgenedered people who also happened to be murdered without correlation, then what we see is a group of people who are terrified that they will be murdered over something so unimportant. If we’re showing love for people, regardless of if you want to rehabilitate them or accept them, they certainly should be afraid like this — don’t you agree?
EDB, Your questions have nothing to do with the topic in question. Until that topic’s addressed, I’m not going to waste time addressing other issues.
Oh dear, Mister Editor.
Can’t fault the logic of EDB’s comment, so you dismiss it.
What is the world coming to? =/
Omega, that’s exactly what I was thinking.
Yeah this is almost a year old but you people are a joke.
I just can’t believe people can be so dismissal, and blind.
Do some research before you bash.
Idiots.
The point, of transgender day of rememberance as I see it is really to raise awareness to the fact that yes -even in Canada-even in 2011- gendered violence (whether against transpeople, gays and lesbians who may or may not be less gender normative in their appearance, and violence against women) are rampant and definitely still major social issues in Canadian Society. I like. How the author of this piece chooses nowhere to display his or her name- that speaks volumes about cowardice when voicing your beliefs. At least transgender activists- both trans and non-trans by the way- are out there advocating by name in academia, the media, government and non-profit organizations by name! It is incredibly sheltered and myopic to assert that no one has been murdered out of transphobic, homophobic, or misogynistic violence in Canada. Do a quick google search and you will find many? And Mr. Or Ms. Author, many trans murder victims have been found dead with torn clothing, evidence of sexual assault, or with epithets carved into their bodies or written on the walks of their home. Further, perpetrators, witnesses and friends of the accused have testified in court about the motives of their or the perpetrators violence, based on knowing prior beliefs of- or over hearing what the assailant said before/during/after an attack.
Further, it astonishes me, author, that you call yourself a Christian, casting such judgements as referring to those who are not LGBT as “sexually responsible people- to imply that to be LGBT is aberrant or invalid or perhaps you believe it’s even a “choice”? Further, to imply that activists are “violent” or “vigilante” groups? This turns the equation of violence around, and is a standard ‘blame the victim’ tactic often used by dominant groups to further marginalize minorities. Perhaps, before you, the author cast such judgements you should go reread Mathew 7:1-5 and ask if it’s your place?
Why didn’t god put them in their proper bodies or give them the strong will power to overcome this if he didn’t want someone to develop a surgery to correct it?
