Socialism, “666,” and Silly Hats

The recent report about the Church of Greece demanding that the government’s planned “citizen cards” contain no reference at all to the number “666” presents us with one of the silliest paradoxes in Church history. It is also parallel to similar errors on our own continent. Not only is the bare paranoia and fear of the number derived from a false view of eschatology, but the Greek Church’s denunciation of the use of the number of the beast contradicts that Church’s complete embrace of Statism and the Welfare State – the system of the beast if anything could be called that today.

What good does it do to denounce the number of the Beast while submitting oneself to the ethics and dominion of the Beast?
