More Companies Sponsor GLBT Dinner, Help Undermine Marriage, Religious Liberties
Mainstream corporations increasingly want to be viewed as “friendly” to the GLBT community – and, by doing so, helping to undermine marriage and religious liberty. Case in point: From Accenture to AARP, from Microsoft to Marriott, and from Hershey’s to Hyatt, a “who’s who” of corporations sponsored the 2010 fundraising dinner for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) – the largest gay activist organization in the country.
HRC strongly advocates for same-sex marriage and parenting, as well as the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the overturning of the Defense of Marriage Act and demanding tolerance and acceptance – often at the expense of religious liberties. Ultimately, these organizations are condoning HRC’s legislative, legal and media-driven attacks on the faith community – especially Catholics and Mormons.
CNSNews.com attempted to contact nine of the dinner sponsors, but only received responses from Giant Food and Food Lion – both which echoed the commitment to “creating a diverse and inclusive environment for associates and customers.” Christy Phillips-Brown, a Food Lion spokeswoman, said the company supported “a wide range of initiatives and programs, including faith-based organizations.” When asked for names, she could not identify any one particular group.
Robert Knight, a senior writer with Coral Ridge Ministries, said that corporate America has willingly bought into the pro-homosexual agenda. “Many corporations have bought into the false idea that people are born gay, can’t change, and that sexual inclination is the same as race,” said Knight. “But, unlike race or ethnicity, sex has a moral component. The behavior is volitional – and tragic.”

I thought this was a Canadian site?
Why are you concerned about DADT, when the Canadian forces do not discriminate against gays?
Why are you concerned about the Defense of marriage Act, which is not applicable to Canadians?
Why are you quoting someone from an American Christian Community? Could you not find a Canadian?
According to PO surveys, 60% of Catholics in the USA support SSM, Why are the USCCB and local Bishops, using their parishioners money to go against the wishes of their flock?
Why would you think there is something wrong with a corporation trying to make sure that all their employees are treated with respect, regardless of their race, creed or sexual orientation?
Many, maybe most, mainline Christians, certainly most Catholics support the evidence that Gay is not a choice, why would you only quote a fringe Christian who thinks it is?
Do you think that George Rekers still thinks it is a choice?
That’s the problem with homosexualists and other leftists – science and the real world don’t back up their views so they have to try to appeal to popular opinion to justify their views. If most people say gravity is no longer valid, will you walk off your roof? One of the most pathetic and infantile frauds ever perpetrated against adults is that homosexuality is an inborn trait. But liberals are fanatical in their hatred for science. That’s also why it’s sno entertaining to see them expect to be taken seriously on their views of evolution over against 6-day creation. They think people should run from the latter view simply because they say so, without realizing that rational people don’t attribute any credibility to them because of their constant hostility to science.
Maybe if I ask one question at a time, and I will ask this as a fellow resident of Ontario.
You mention Don’t ask Don’t tell, and I presume, given the context regarding HRC and the fact that companies are supporting HRC in this regard, that you feel that rescinding DADT would be a bad idea?
Is that the case?
If that is case, and given your past employment with conservative MPs, and your knowledge of the armed forces, I would like you to maybe tell where, in your opinion, this has adversely effected the performance of Canadian troops, in Afghanistan for instance?
Is their bravery, moral, esprit de corps, less than that of the US forces that they are fighting alongside?
As Canada is a member of NATO and NORAD, has the attachment of gay Canadian Service members to American forces, caused a break down in US moral, are their forces so less well trained that they could not handle it?
My son in law, a US citizen, and ex air force sergeant, tells me that he recalls having a gay comrade in Japan, and that in fact he, and his fellow service members, protected their gay fellow soldier against “the brass” so that they would not find out.
Is this an exception to the general rule in your opinion?
Michael,
1. The issue is bigger than DADT, which is just another initiative in the normalization of homosexuality, which is the main concern.
2. Other experts have provided documentation to demonstrate the threat to the military specifically of allowing open homosexuality, so there is solid research on the other side that you can look at too.
3. It sounds like you are trying to reduce the development of public policy to a matter of your anecdote against mine, which is a terrible way to make public policy.
I’d very much like to see all of this evidence that shows homosexuality somehow causes a degradation in military service, and that it is somehow chosen.
Also, while we’re on the topic of ‘Undermining Marriage and Religious Liberty’, perhaps you could clarify those concerns. I’ve never been clear on what it was about homosexual unions that somehow caused issue with heterosexual unions. Additionally, what religious liberties do you feel are threatened, and why?
It sounds as though you are trying to make public policy based on your beliefs in the bible. Why is that a good idea?
What did Jesus say about homosexuality that would make you against gay soldiers serving in the military?
You have this website to promote your beliefs, why won’t you defend your beliefs with reason rather than just opinion
Why won’y you answer the simple question. Are Canadian soldiers less effective because Canada allows gays in the military to serve openly? For that matter are Israeli soldiers less effective for the same reason?
Etch, that’s because either you’re a bigot who refuses to read the other side, or you’ve never learnt how to use the elementary search options on the Internet. You certainly expose yourself as the fool for being so illiterate on elementary questions. It’s one thing to mount a credible defence against objections, it’s something completely different to be ignorant of these arguments in the 21st Century – not that there’s much evidence that atheists have matured beyond the 1st Century, but anyway…

Too funny. This coming from a 6-day creation supporter!
There goes another perfectly good irony meter!
SiteEditor:
A bigot or stupid, eh? I do believe I’ve been nothing but courteous the entire time. I’m read material that fits the description of what I asked for in plenty of locations by plenty of authors. However, the credibility of anti-gay science from American Bible Universities is pretty thin, generally filled with untestable science, if there’s even any rationale at all to back up their opinions. As for your stance on what Homosexuality is infringing on, I ask because it’s not clear.
But I’m guessing the reality is that you don’t want to list specifics, because we can point out the errors in them, and you don’t want to nail down your opinion because it’ll clearly show the origins of your irrational policies. Rather than engage in dialog, you’ve resorted to childish insults, which is in itself fairly illuminating.
@MichaelC: If this guy ~seriously~ believes in the 6-day creation myth then I think it’s safe to say thay everything ~he~ thinks he knows PERIOD is wrong.
Hey joe, I discovered that some of you guys traipsed on over here from a Pharyngula blog by PZ Myers. And true to wing-nut atheism that doesn’t want to be confused with the facts, I note that in his blog post about our site, he writes, “We don’t even need to get into the evidence …” Yiou guys hate dealing with evidence… What a gas…
If your thinly veiled sarcasm counts as courteous, sure… And I posted 5 articles on homosexual violence last night in response to another commentor. Like I said to another commentor, you are a guerrila warfare specialist, and the rest of you. You hope to beat your enemies down through wearing them down. You think I’m intimidated by your allegations of not putting my views down and not documenting reality-based (science-based and health data -based and social science-based evidence against homosexuality)? Yeah, I’m trembling – Go back and read ifd you know anything about the English languages. What a hoot.
SiteEditor: You’re reading that sarcasm in yourself. Don’t presume to know my tone, this is text — it doesn’t exactly translate. You seem to be comfortable with prejudicing your opponents, and let me tell you, you make it very difficult to avoid reciprocation. If you believe I’ve insulted you or used sarcasm, point it out and I’ll explain myself. Your consistent inability to maintain a civil discussion is infinitely discouraging.
I’d ACTUALLY like to beat my enemies by educating them. I feel helping people understand is a much easier victory to maintain than exhaustion.
Perhaps if you’ll expand the acronym IFD I can take a look. Hopefully it’ll be source more intelligible than Answers in Genesis.
As it appears I am not going to get any answers to my questions, I will leave you to your five supporters who voted for “Christian candidates”
You can count it as a victory if you wish, but I will remember this site, and your former employment when I am deciding who to support at the next federal election.
I voted Harper last time in the knowledge that he was unlikely to win a majority. We shall see, but with the likes of yourself working for his re-election it is difficult to deny the “hidden agenda” charge.
We don’t need this kind of social conservatism up here north of the 49th.
As the father of a homosexual, I am more concerned about this kind of stuff happening up here than I am about fiscal policy.
